VEHICLE-INFO-SPEC
The Vehicle-Info-Spec is the specification of the vehicle and the vehicle access. It describes valid for which vehicle model, the ODX-parameterization, which is control devices are installed, which interfaces are available for the diagnosis and how to access the internal topology of the bus system is constructed in the vehicle. So which bus systems are available and how these bus systems are connected via gateways to each other.
The diagnostic system performs run-time access to the vehicle in different steps. Before a connection from the tester to a control device (Logical Link) can be established, the tester must first vehicle manufacturer, vehicle type, vehicle model, and year menu. Once the logical link has been created, diagnostic services are exchanged with a control unit.
In the picture above to see a small example: the top is schematically indicated the diagnostic tester and including a vehicle with the ECU ECU ECU A and B. Where these control devices are connected to different bus systems. Between the bus systems is a gateway. In ODX one would describe the various bus systems each with a physical link and the vehicle OBD connector and its connecting pins on a connector, and various Vehicle Vehicle connector pins. To do this you would define multiple logical links. A two for the ECU, which is connected to two bus systems (left and right). The first for the left pin of the OBD connector and the second for the right pin of the OBD connector. To the control unit B is also requires a logical link that is to be a little more complicated. He goes by the diagnostic tester via the left pin of the OBD connector and left the bus to the gateway. From there, Gateway Logical link on the right bus to the ECU as
