Overview

The Open Test Framework is equipped with a licensing system. The system provides an optimal balance/relationship/proportion/ratio??? of safety and user comfort, it can be flexibly adapted to different personalized management and it provides a high degree of transparency for the customers.

In the following section, the structure and use of the licensing system is described.

Licensing - What for?

Software is the intellectual property of the person or company that created them. Intellectual property is the copyright protected by law. For the legal use of software is the grant of a right to use by the author necessary???. This is done in the license form. For any program that is used, a license is required. So through a software license gives you the right, a program under the conditions of the license agreement, see our terms and conditions - conditions of contract for the provision and maintenance of standard software to use.

Construction

The licensing system is Web-based . D. h. Licensing data is located on a Web server, the so-called. licensing server . The OTF connects at the following times with the licensing server:

• To the activation,
• for deactivation or
• the first time the development or runtime per day ( Royalty Check).

Please note that the license check may take several seconds to complete and is performed only at a existing Internet connection.

We distinguish the following two program modes:

1. Design time, oa Design Time
   Work with OTF in the development environment, for example, to develop a diagnostic application.
2. Runtime, Runtime oa
   Use of OTF runtime environment, for example to perform a diagnostic application created with the OTF.

For the design time, you need a development license and for the duration of a run-time license.

Development license

The development license is required for working with the OTF as a development environment. Without capitalized development license, the OTF is not running!

Please note that a re-activation may be required for a license upgrade. The symptom is that you a new license ID was sent.

A development license can on a computer as often activated (for example, due to a change of the hard drive) or disabled (for example, to transfer the license to another computer). Within the development version, a distinction three types of licenses:

1. Evaluation version
   • An evaluation version is limited to 30 days duration full version
   • An evaluation version can be converted to a full version
   • With an evaluation version runtime versions generated set at the start of a process is a dialog box that must be clicked away.
2. Full version
   • A full version is available in the respective license scope (Edition) unlimited run
   • A full version can be upgraded within the different editions
   • With a full version of runtime versions produced are unlimited run with no restrictions.
3. Rent version
   • A rental option is a time-limited full version
   • A rental option asks the license check from the license server if the license for the coming months is still valid. For validity, the internal license expiration date to the last day of next month is set. Until then, the license can be run without an internet connection. Is on the license server a fixed expiration date is set, the internal expiration date is set to this value. The license is not runnable after this expiration date. This is also the case if the expiration date is in the past.
   • A rental version should be at least once per month connected to the Internet.

Run-time license

The runtime license is required for working with the OTF runtime environment. A runtime license must not be activated , it is with the necessary system always runs . The licensing restricts a runtime version not one. There is no license validation.

Please note that the runtime version without a license validation still our terms and conditions- conditions of contract for the provision and maintenance of standard software subject and the incurring of a run-time version of the OTF and possibly the diagnostic runtime system license fees, see price list. Due to the required high availability of production was omitted validation of the run-time license.

Activation

A development license is generated by emotive and must be enabled on the target computer. This is the case for example with an evaluation version, a replacement or an upgrade. The user receives this e-mail the license code. The license code consists of the license ID (left part) and the password (right part). The license ID describes the license and password to unique customers.

The license ID is public and can be passed, the password is confidential and must not be passed.

1. Start the OTF.
2. If the OTF has not yet been activated automatically appears the licensing window.
3. In the first box, your license ID and the second field your password a. This data was sent to you in advance by e-mail.
4. If you use the computer connected to the Internet, you now press the Activate button. The activation process can take some time. Upon successful activation, the license window disappears and the current license data appears in the About box.
5. If you are using the computer not connected to the Internet are, deselect the corresponding checkbox and then press the Activate button. It brings up another window that guides you through the manual activation.

Deactivation

A capitalized development license can be disabled on the target computer. It can give the following reasons for deactivation:

• Transfer the license to another computer

• Return the license

This is for example license upgrades necessary or evaluation versions that are not converted to a full version.

For the deactivation is license ID and password required. Run with these data, the deactivation in the following steps:

1. Start of OTF
2. Go to the Ribbon tab " File "and click on" License ... ". This will open the licensing window

You receive at the end of a check code that you send us in order to verify that you have deactivated the license on your computer.

Upon deactivation without an internet connection the check code should reflect carefully preserved are! Because without this the deactivation process can not be completed and thus no re-activation would be possible. If you should be lost to the check code, you can rerun to obtain the deactivation process to a new check code.
